The Sinking Ship

It is going to be an awesome Saturday. Sin is not only wrong doing, it is also a failure in right doing, failing to do good.  We cannot forget that goodness is a positive quality. It is not merely the absence of what is bad. We must do more than just hear. We must act. We must strive for goodness. As Christians striving for goodness should be on the forefront of our mind. A moment that is not spent in useful employment is an act of sin. Jesus tells us that condemnation at judgement will be passed out to those who do not do the good He asks of us. We know what God desires of us. We know what He wants us to do. We sin in doing that which we feel uncertain is appropriate before God. We sin in knowing what we should do and not doing it. Sin is much more than just staying away from the “big nasty” ones. The one talent man was called wicked for not acting. Be very careful that in knowing how little you do for the Lord that you are not willing to pretend to be doing more. That fruitlessness will develop into a false claim, and false claims into hypocrisy.  If you find your life lacking in the work of the Lord, simply do more. Do that which you know is good. Strive to do your best and give your all in doing good. Let doing good be on the forefront of you mind today.

Therefore, to him who knows to do good and does not do it, to him it is sin.” James 4:17

“…for whatever is not from faith is sin. Rom. 14:23

““Then he who had received the one talent came and said, ‘Lord, I knew you to be a hard man, reaping where you have not sown, and gathering where you have not scattered seed. And I was afraid, and went and hid your talent in the ground. Look, there you have what is yours.’ “But his lord answered and said to him, ‘You wicked and lazy servant, you knew that I reap where I have not sown, and gather where I have not scattered seed.”” Matt.25:24-26

Be active in doing what is good and holy! Keep working! :)

In The Name Of

Everything that we do must be in the name of Jesus. The phrase “in the name of” identifies by whose authority. Everything we do we must do in and by the authority of Christ. We cannot quit because Christ is with us. Jesus made it clear if we do His commands He is with us tell the end of the age. We must work and operate within His authority and by His authority.   Success outside of this parameter is not godly success but worldly achievement. Therefore, it is nothing more than sin. In order to never quit and have an attitude of success only we must remain in Christ authority. The right growth, maturity, success rate, and prize in only found in Christ. Everything else is only an illusion of what could be.   Keep working in the name of Jesus. ““Repent, and let every one of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins; ”” Acts 2:38 “And whatever you do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through...

The Effects

Make sure you are taking into account eternity with every choice you make about fun and pleasure. We will all be held accountable. As a family, we want to cultivate an environment that continually produces good wholesome fun. “For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, that each one may receive the things done in the body, according to what he has done, whether good or bad.” 1 Corinthians 5:10 NKJV

With Spirit

We are to worship God in spirit and truth. Truth being His word. Our spirit is what makes us up. Our spirit is all that we have. Who cares what that sounds like or what our best may amount to, to the ears and eyes of the world. God asked for all of us. Lip service will not suffice. Man-made concepts will cause our worship to come up short in God’s eyes. Be mindful of this. Give Him all you have. Hypocrites! Well did Isaiah prophesy about you, saying:   ‘These people draw near to Me with their mouth, And honor Me with their lips, But their heart is far from Me. And in vain they worship Me, Teaching as doctrines the commandments of men.’ ” Matthew 15:7-9 NKJV
