Provide!

A man who will not provide for his family is worse than an unbeliever. That is serious men. Make sure you are providing for your family. Keep in mind providing is taking care of needs. It is not a sin if you cannot take care of wants. (1 Timothy 5:8) “But if anyone does not provide for his own, and especially for those of his household, he has denied the faith and is worse than an unbeliever.” 1 Timothy 5:8 NKJV

Work, Work, Work

We spend most of our time working. Our work is a blessing from God. We must work even harder because of sin. To this day sin can make our work difficult. (Genesis 2:15; 3:17-19) “Then the Lord God took the man and put him in the garden of Eden to tend and keep it." Genesis 2:15 NKJV

Leisurely Experiences

Do not sacrifice your soul for an experience. This world is all about having experiences. Some experiences are just not for us. Some experiences are just not wise for us to entertain. (Matthew 7:16-20) “You will know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes from thornbushes or figs from thistles?  Even so, every good tree bears good fruit, but a bad tree bears bad fruit. A good tree cannot bear bad fruit, nor can a bad tree bear good fruit. Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire. Therefore by their fruits you will know them.” Matthew 7:16-20 NKJV

Rest & Soul

Keep your spiritual being holy even in rest. It is tempting when you are feeling overwhelmed and tired to simply let things go. Be careful to not lose sight of your spiritual well being. It is possible to recuperate and maintain holiness. (Romans 8:6) “For to be carnally minded is death, but to be spiritually minded is life and peace.” Romans 8:6 NKJV

Rest & Body

As we play to recuperate we must be mindful of our gifted earthen vessel. We are the temple of God. We are God created. We are given a use for this body by God. We must make sure to not compromise that at any time, especial in our leisure. (1 Corinthians 6:19-20) “Or do you not know that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God, and you are not your own?  For you were bought at a price; therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God’s.” 1 Corinthians 6:19-20 NKJV

Rest & Influence

No matter where you are or what you do you must always be a light. Sometimes we want to flip the light switch off when we go and play. We do not get that luxury even in relaxation. Make sure you are always the salt of the earth. (Matthew 5:13-16) “You are the salt of the earth; but if the salt loses its flavor, how shall it be seasoned? It is then good for nothing but to be thrown out and trampled underfoot by men. You are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hidden. Nor do they light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a lampstand, and it gives light to all who are in the house. Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven.”  Matthew 5:13-16 NKJV

Good People

The company you keep will rub of on you. Make sure that even in your free time you are surrounded by good influences. (1 Corinthians 15:33) “Do not be deceived: “Evil company corrupts good habits.”” 1 Corinthians 15:33 NKJV

Rest & Money

Rest often cost money. It does not always require money. Make sure the money you are using to fund your relaxation is being managed properly as a steward of that blessing from God. Do not steal from God to fund you leisure activities. If it is a temptation find free ways to recuperate. (Matt. 6:21) “For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.” Matthew 6:21 NKJV

Manage Your Time

Manage your time well. We have very little time at our disposal. Use your time both efficiently and sufficiently to recuperate. Make sure you are not caught miss managing the time God has given you. (Luke 2:49) "And He said to them, “Why did you seek Me? Did you not know that I must be about My Father’s business?”  Luke 2:49 NKJV

Instructing On Rest

Parents keep close watch over your children. It is easy to make sure that are doing the right thing when they are busy. The real danger for children is idle hands and minds. Make sure to keep watch over their free time. Teach them how to effectively use it.  (Proverbs 22:6) “Train up a child in the way he should go, And when he is old he will not depart from it.” Proverbs 22:6 NKJV

Sinning Is Not Relaxing

We can never relax in sin. Sin cannot be our avenue for recuperation. Although we maybe tired and that may be tempting it is still sin. Stay away from sin, even in times of leisure. (Gal. 5:19-21) “Now the works of the flesh are evident, which are: adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lewdness, idolatry, sorcery, hatred, contentions, jealousies, outbursts of wrath, selfish ambitions, dissensions, heresies, envy, murders, drunkenness, revelries, and the like; of which I tell you beforehand, just as I also told you in time past, that those who practice such things will not inherit the kingdom of God.”  Galatians 5:19-21 NKJV

A Little Time

We must be careful and not spend to much time in rest. That leisure time can become our undoing. Let it be what it is, a time of rest. Then come back to battle before your rest consumes you.  (Luke 8:14) “Now the ones  that  fell among thorns are those who, when they have heard, go out and are choked with cares,   riches, and pleasures of life, and bring no fruit to maturity. ”  Luke 8:14 NKJV

Rest Time

Take time to rest. We cannot be on the front lines every single moment. We must draw back and recuperate. If we do not we will succumb to exhaustion and the enemy will win. (Mark 6:31) “And He said to them,  “Come aside by yourselves to a deserted place and rest a while.”  For  there were many coming and going, and they did not even have time to eat. ” Mark 6:31 NKJV

Love Him

We either love God or we hate Him. We either love sin or we hate it. We know which side we stand on by which one we choose to serve. It is impossible to serve two masters. You will always love one and hate the other. Whose servant, are you? Does your work and fruit reflect that? (Luke 16:13) “No servant can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon.” Luke 16:13 KJV

Serve Right

Those who do right and as God says while Christ is away are the faithful and wise servants. It is easy to play while the Master is away. It takes a true servant to continue to serve when no one is there to hold them accountable. Always remember when Christ, our Master, comes back everyone will receive their due wages. Are you working while you wait? (Matt. 24:45-51)

Servant of Servants

Jesus was a servant of servants. He washed the feet of the apostles. He was trying to explain to them, as He is to us, that we are to be servants. We are not to elevate ourselves at any time. We have not right or authority to makes ourselves better than others. We have every right to make ourselves a servant to all.   (John 13:1-17)

Be Careful Judging

Judgment is wrong. Righteous judgement is not. That is, we can evaluate others lives based on the word and go to their aid when they are struggling. However, the final judgment call is by our Master.  God makes that ruling on judgement day. Be careful lest you be found making the final judgement on someone. (Romans 14:4) “Who are you to judge another’s servant? To his own master he stands or falls. Indeed, he will be made to stand, for God is able to make him stand.” Romans 14:4 NKJV

Have Mercy

We are never in place where we are merciless. We have been shown mercy by our Master. We need to make sure we express the same mercy to our fellow servants. We are not above another in any way, shape, or form. We simply have duties and roles to perform. (Matthew 18:21-35)
