Be Thankful For Life

Be thankful for the life you have in Christ. We live a life that cannot end. We live a life that is sheltered and protected. We live a life that is blessed beyond our imagination. Be thankful for the life you now live in Christ. “For if we have been united together in the likeness of His death, certainly we also shall be in the likeness of His resurrection, knowing this, that our old man was crucified with Him, that the body of sin might be done away with, that we should no longer be slaves of sin. For he who has died has been freed from sin. Now if we died with Christ, we believe that we shall also live with Him, knowing that Christ, having been raised from the dead, dies no more. Death no longer has dominion over Him. For the death that He died, He died to sin once for all; but the life that He lives, He lives to God. Likewise you also, reckon yourselves to be dead indeed to sin, but alive to God in Christ Jesus our Lord.” Romans 6:5-11 NKJV

Be Thankful For Your Blessings

Be thankful for your blessings. You have because God gives. Everything you enjoy and every day is a blessing from God. As you enjoy them be thankful for them.   “Therefore I say to you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink; nor about your body, what you will put on. Is not life more than food and the body more than clothing?   Look at the birds of the air, for they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they? Which of you by worrying can add one cubit to his stature? “So why do you worry about clothing? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow: they neither toil nor spin;   and yet I say to you that even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these. Now if God so clothes the grass of the field, which today is, and tomorrow is thrown into the oven, will He not much more clothe you, O you of little faith? “Therefore do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we

Be Thankful For Your Christian Family

Be thankful for your family in Christ. They are here for you. They want what is best for you. They love you. They understand you. They are seeking to join you in heaven. Be thankful for the wonderful family we have in Christ. “For as the body is one and has many members, but all the members of that one body, being many, are one body, so also is Christ. For by one Spirit we were all baptized into one body—whether Jews or Greeks, whether slaves or free—and have all been made to drink into one Spirit.   For in fact the body is not one member but many.”   1 Corinthians 12:12-14 NKJV

Be Thankful For Christ

Be thankful for Christ. He lived for you. He suffered for you. He died for you. He came to this earth just for you. Thank Christ all day today! “Let this mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus, who, being in the form of God, did not consider it robbery to be equal with God, but made Himself of no reputation, taking the form of a bondservant, and coming in the likeness of men. And being found in appearance as a man, He humbled Himself and became obedient to the point of death, even the death of the cross. Therefore God also has highly exalted Him and given Him the name which is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of those in heaven, and of those on earth, and of those under the earth, and that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.” Philippians 2:5-11 NKJV

Be Thankful for God

Be thankful for God. He created you. He loves you. He sacrificed His only son for you. He saves you. He makes a home for you. He welcomes you into eternity with Him. Thank Him all day long! “Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places in Christ, just as He chose us in Him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before Him in love, having predestined us to adoption as sons by Jesus Christ to Himself, according to the good pleasure of His will, to the praise of the glory of His grace, by which He made us accepted in the Beloved.” Ephesians 1:3-6 NKJV

Only In The Lord

Widows cannot just marry whom ever they want. They are to marry in the Lord. It is for their benefit. This also benefits any children that may be fatherless as well. The end goal is Heaven. God wants us to make it to Heaven. Widows make sure that is your goal as well. You need someone who is going to help and encourage you in the Christian life. Why would we risk that just for a second marriage, for a relationship, and because of loneliness? “A wife is bound by law as long as her husband lives; but if her husband dies, she is at liberty to be married to whom she wishes, only in the Lord.” 1 Corinthians 7:39 NKJV

Try To Work It Out

Try to work it out. Divorce may be allowed in the case of adultery, but it doesn’t mean its harmless. Divorce causes great harm to each person and the family. All other situations must be worked out. God still hates divorce. Do your best, with all that lies in you, to try to reconcile the issues and repair what has been broken. If you decide at the time of the offense of adultery to not work it out then get a divorce. The innocent party may remarry. If you try to work through the offensive of adultery  you are committed to the marriage again. You cannot come back later and get a divorce.  When you chose to stay in it and make it right that is your job now.  Everything else you must work through and stay together through! “For the Lord God of Israel says That He hates divorce, For it covers one’s garment with violence,” Says the Lord of hosts. “Therefore take heed to your spirit,That you do not deal treacherously.” Malachi 2:16 NKJV *The below verse is dealing with issues

Do Not Be The Cause

You cannot not cause your spouse to commit adultery by not meeting needs. That is a sin as well. It is not a sin that can grant divorce. It is just a cruel and horrible way to treat this God given blessing. Enjoy your union in God. Be there for each other. If you need aid seek help, do not suffer needlessly. For in the end the marriage will suffer. Instead of being a blessing it will turn into a burden. All because of one person’s actions and attitude. “Do not deprive one another except with consent for a time, that you may give yourselves to fasting and prayer; and come together again so that Satan does not tempt you because of your lack of self-control.” 1 Corinthians 7:5 NKJV

Only One Way To Break It

There is only one thing that can break this union, sexual immorality. Fornication in this holy union is breaking a covenant that God has authorized between you and your wife. Only the one who took the covenant bound and union seriously with commitment by not committing adultery can remarry. “And I say to you, whoever divorces his wife, except for sexual immorality, and marries another, commits adultery; and whoever marries her who is divorced commits adultery.”” Matthew 19:9 NKJV

Married In The Eyes Of God

God instated this wonderful union of marriage. How do we know we are married? There are different customs and laws all over the world. You are married when it is recognized by God as a marriage and when your culture/law/customs say you are married. “Let every soul be subject to the governing authorities. For there is no authority except from God, and the authorities that exist are appointed by God.” Romans 13:1 NKJV  “But Peter and the other apostles answered and said: “We ought to obey God rather than men.” Acts 5:29 NKJV

Third Purpose: Love & Affection

God established this institution to meet our God given needs. We have a need for attention and affection. Those to be met in this wonderful union. We must make sure we are giving due affection to each other. God intended this union to be the place for such things to  be taken care of.    “Nevertheless, because of sexual immorality, let each man have his own wife, and let each woman have her own husband. Let the husband render to his wife the affection due her, and likewise also the wife to her husband. The wife does not have authority over her own body, but the husband does. And likewise the husband does not have authority over his own body, but the wife does. Do not deprive one another except with consent for a time, that you may give yourselves to fasting and prayer; and come together again so that Satan does not tempt you because of your lack of self-control.” 1 Corinthians 7:2-5 NKJV

Second Purpose: Be fruitful & Multiply

God established this wonderful institution for us to be fruitful and multiply. The multiplying is meant to be done in marriage alone. This simple setup is the best setup for any child and any family. There is too much credible science that supports a home with a mother, father, and child is the best family dynamic. The most growth and development is accomplished here. God knew what He was doing. “So God blessed Noah and his sons, and said to them: “Be fruitful and multiply, and fill the earth.” Genesis 9:1 NKJV

First Purpose: Companionship

God instituted marriage so that we would not be alone. He established it so that we would have a helper in life. This means our spouse compliments us. We all know that men and women are different. One strength is anothers weakness. One purpose and role is not anothers. Together there is one body that makes a force to be reckoned with.  “And the Lord God said, “It is not good that man should be alone; I will make him a helper comparable to him.””  Genesis 2:18 NKJV

The Oldest Institution

The oldest institution is marriage. God established it with Adam and Eve. He intended a male and a female to become one in this holy union. Enjoy this blessing and take good care of it. God established it for you. “And He answered and said to them, “Have you not read that He who made them at the beginning ‘made them male and female,’ and said, ‘For this reason a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh’? So then, they are no longer two but one flesh. Therefore what God has joined together, let not man separate.”” Matthew 19:4-6 NKJV

Christians In War

We have the right and responsibility to protect our God given blessings. This is not done from hate, anger or wrath. We are to make sure to protect what God has blessed us with. We are to protect our families. We can be a soldier. We can use the “sword”. Carry protection for self-defense only. Know your surroundings. Keep your defensive item it its place. Take care of and protect your family. Soldiers keep soldiering and don’t abuse your power.   Always remember we are all bound by the same rulers. “And He said to them, “When I sent you without money bag, knapsack, and sandals, did you lack anything?” So they said, “Nothing.” Then He said to them, “But now, he who has a money bag, let him take it, and likewise a knapsack; and he who has no sword, let him sell his garment and buy one. For I say to you that this which is written must still be accomplished in Me: ‘And He was numbered with the transgressors.’ For the things concerning Me have an end.” So they said, “Lord, look, her

Christians At War

When we are in war we have responsibilities.  We are to love our enemies. We are to go the extra mile. We are to be subject to our government.  We need to make sure we are loving our neighbor as ourselves. We love with Agape love. We are to give them what they need. Love your enemies, go the extra mile, realize if you live by the sword you will die by it, and know what you’re fighting against.   ““You have heard that it was said, ‘An eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth.’  But I tell you not to resist an evil person. But whoever slaps you on your right cheek, turn the other to him also.  If anyone wants to sue you and take away your tunic, let him have your cloak also. And whoever compels you to go one mile, go with him two. Give to him who asks you, and from him who wants to borrow from you do not turn away. “You have heard that it was said, ‘You shall love your neighbor and hate your enemy.’ But I say to you, love your enemies, bless those who curse you, do good to those

Your Job Not The Governments

We are to give from what God has blessed us with to take care of our brothers and sisters in Christ. This responsibility never falls on the shoulders of the government. We need make sure that it never does. Keep giving  for the cause of Christ and the aid of our brethren.   “Now concerning the collection for the saints, as I have given orders to the churches of Galatia, so you must do also: On the first day of the week let each one of you lay something aside, storing up as he may prosper, that there be no collections when I come. And when I come, whomever you approve by your letters I will send to bear your gift to Jerusalem.” 1 Corinthians 16:1-3 NKJV

Convert A Ruler

Convert everyone you can. That even means rulers. Do not be afraid to give them the reason of the hope that you have. If they were to obey the gospel you have not only gained a sibling in Christ but a better ruler. “Then Agrippa said to Paul, “You are permitted to speak for yourself.” So Paul stretched out his hand and answered for himself:   “I think myself happy, King Agrippa, because today I shall answer for myself before you concerning all the things of which I am accused by the Jews,   especially because you are expert in all customs and questions which have to do with the Jews. Therefore I beg you to hear me patiently. Acts 26:1-3 NKJV “And Paul said, “I would to God that not only you, but also all who hear me today, might become both almost and altogether such as I am, except for these chains.”” Acts 26:29 NKJV

Pray For Your Rulers

Pray for those rulers that govern you. We want to live quite and peaceful lives. We want to freely keep God’s commands and do His work. Make sure to use the blessing and privilege of prayer given to you for them. “Therefore I exhort first of all that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks be made for all men, for kings and all who are in authority, that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and reverence.”  1 Timothy 2:1-2 NKJV

Government Is For You Too

Don’t be afraid to call on your government for protection. It is there to take care of those who do good. It is there to protect the good from evil and punish evil. Don’t be afraid to use your governmental rights to protect you and your family.   “For he is God’s minister to you for good. But if you do evil, be afraid; for he does not bear the sword in vain; for he is God’s minister, an avenger to execute wrath on him who practices evil.” Romans 13:4 NKJV   “And when it was day, some of the Jews banded together and bound themselves under an oath, saying that they would neither eat nor drink till they had killed Paul. Now there were more than forty who had formed this conspiracy. They came to the chief priests and elders, and said, “We have bound ourselves under a great oath that we will eat nothing until we have killed Paul.   Now you, therefore, together with the council, suggest to the commander that he be brought down to you tomorrow, as though you were going to make fu

Legalizing It Does Not Make It Godly

The government may okay somethings or legalize somethings, but that does not mean we have to participate. Alcohol consumption is legal at certain times and ages. That doesn’t mean God allows it. Divorce is legal for any reason. God didn’t allow it. Marriage to whomever is allowed. God did not okay that either. The government may make a law but we are bound by God.   “The Pharisees also came to Him, testing Him, and saying to Him, “Is it lawful for a man to divorce his wife for just any reason?”And He answered and said to them, “Have you not read that He who [a]made them at the beginning ‘made them male and female,’ and said, ‘For this reason a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh’?   So then, they are no longer two but one flesh. Therefore what God has joined together, let not man separate.”They said to Him, “Why then did Moses command to give a certificate of divorce, and to put her away?”He said to them, “Moses, be

What Belongs To It

We give to the government what belongs to it. We give to God what belongs to Him. We pay taxes and follows customs. We do this so long as it does not go against God. Give to Caesar what is Caesar’s.   “ Tell us, therefore, what do You think? Is it lawful to pay taxes to Caesar, or not?” But Jesus perceived their wickedness, and said, “Why do you test Me, you hypocrites? Show Me the tax money.”So they brought Him a denarius. And He said to them, “Whose image and inscription is this? ”They said to Him, “Caesar’s.”And He said to them, “Render therefore to Caesar the things that are Caesar’s, and to God the things that are God’s.” When they had heard these words, they marveled, and left Him and went their way.” Matthew 22:17-22 NKJV   “Render therefore to all their due: taxes to whom taxes are due, customs to whom customs, fear to whom fear, honor to whom honor.” Romans 13:7 NKJV

Obeying Government

We are not to obey the government unconditionally. We are to obey such things as traffic and hunting laws. The Government has a job. That job is not to infringe on you and I keeping God’s commands. We obey the authority over us until it begins to reject God’s authority. We must obey God and not men.   “saying, “Did we not strictly command you not to teach in this name? And look, you have filled Jerusalem with your doctrine, and intend to bring this Man’s blood on us!” But Peter and the other apostles answered and said: “We ought to obey God rather than men. “   Acts 5:28-29 NKJV

Ordained By God

Our government is ordained by God. We need to be in subjection to it and its laws. We need to realize its place in our lives. We need to note its purpose. “Let every soul be subject to the governing authorities. For there is no authority except from God, and the authorities that exist are appointed by God. Therefore whoever resists the authority resists the ordinance of God, and those who resist will bring judgment on themselves.  For rulers are not a terror to good works, but to evil. Do you want to be unafraid of the authority? Do what is good, and you will have praise from the same.  For he is God’s minister to you for good. But if you do evil, be afraid; for he does not bear the sword in vain; for he is God’s minister, an avenger to execute wrath on him who practices evil.” Romans 13:1-4 NKJV

Best Work Ever

The only work that has an here after enjoyment is the Lords work. It has the best benefits, retirement that is out of this world, and an investment plan that nocks the socks of Charles Schwab. Work for the Lord for in Lords work we labor not in vain.  (1 Corinthians 15:58) “Therefore, my beloved brethren, be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that your labor is not in vain in the Lord.” 1 Corinthians 15:58 NKJV

Do Not Be Vain

Your job is not your fulfillment. Do not put all your joy, peace, happiness, and fulfillment in what you do for a paycheck. One day someone else will do it. You will be forgotten and they will move on. Everything on this earth is temporary. Put all your joy, peace, happiness, and fulfillment in the Lord. (Ecclesiastes 2:18-19) “Then I hated all my labor in which I had toiled under the sun, because I must leave it to the man who will come after me. And who knows whether he will be wise or a fool? Yet he will rule over all my labor in which I toiled and in which I have shown myself wise under the sun. This also is vanity.” Ecclesiastes 2:18-19 NKJV

God Then Work

Your job should never come before the Lord. I know that is hard to swallow sometimes. A lot of employers expect you to work when they say. They expect you to do as they say. Even so, we must never sacrifice our spiritual well-being to obey them.   We should never give up God for a paycheck. (Matthew 6:33) “But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.” Matthew 6:33 NKJV

Treat Them Right

Treat everyone as you would like to be treated. Whether you are an employer or employee seek to do to them as you would like them to do to you. Put others first. Always keep you neighbor in mind when you work. (Matthew 7:12) “Therefore, whatever you want men to do to you, do also to them, for this is the Law and the Prophets.” Matthew 7:12 NKJV

Whole-Hearted

We owe our boss a whole-hearted service with genuine effort. Genuine effort must always be put in no mater our circumstances or relationship statues with our boss. We work unto the Lord not just for these earthly employers. (Colossians 3:22-25) “Bondservants, obey in all things your masters according to the flesh, not with eyeservice, as men-pleasers, but in sincerity of heart, fearing God. And whatever you do, do it heartily, as to the Lord and not to men, knowing that from the Lord you will receive the reward of the inheritance; for you serve the Lord Christ. But he who does wrong will be repaid for what he has done, and there is no partiality.”  Colossians 3:22-25 NKJV

Always Be Just & Fair

As an employer we must always be just and fair. Sometimes it may hurt our profit to be just. It may even hurt our families to be fair. You must always be righteous in dealing with your employees and business affairs.. (Colossians 4:1) “Masters, give your bondservants what is just and fair, knowing that you also have a Master in heaven.” Colossians 4:1 NKJV

Stay Legal

You can never do anything that is illegal. We must follow the laws of the land. We must keep our unspotted ways. We must maintain our godly influence. Sin is never the answer in gaining riches. (Romans 13:1-7) “Let every soul be subject to the governing authorities. But if you do evil, be afraid; for he does not bear the sword in vain; for he is God’s minister, an avenger to execute wrath on him who practices evil. Therefore you must be subject, not only because of wrath but also for conscience’ sake. For because of this you also pay taxes, for they are God’s min

Keep Your Influence

Do not give up so much influence and power in your partnership as to lose control over the direction the work goes. You need to maintain the influence to purpose of doing the Lords work. Be mindful of this when you enter a partnership. Do not be unequal yoked given them the power and control to do by their rules and not Gods. (2 Corinthians 6:14) “Do not be unequally yoked together with unbelievers. For what fellowship has righteousness with lawlessness? And what communion has light with darkness?”  2 Corinthians 6:14 NKJV

Work For Others

We are not just to work for ourselves. We are not supposed to only work for our family’s needs.   We are to also work for the needs of others. We need to work that we can give to those who are in need. (Ephesians 4:28) “Let him who stole steal no longer, but rather let him labor, working with his hands what is good, that he may have something to give him who has need.” Ephesians 4:28 NKJV

Fervent and Diligent

We are serve the Lord. We not to do it just any old way. We are not be lazy about it either. We need to work at it. We should be fervent about it. We should never lag in diligence.  (Romans 12:11)  “not lagging in diligence, fervent in spirit, serving the Lord;” Romans 12:11 NKJV

Provide!

A man who will not provide for his family is worse than an unbeliever. That is serious men. Make sure you are providing for your family. Keep in mind providing is taking care of needs. It is not a sin if you cannot take care of wants. (1 Timothy 5:8) “But if anyone does not provide for his own, and especially for those of his household, he has denied the faith and is worse than an unbeliever.” 1 Timothy 5:8 NKJV

Work, Work, Work

We spend most of our time working. Our work is a blessing from God. We must work even harder because of sin. To this day sin can make our work difficult. (Genesis 2:15; 3:17-19) “Then the Lord God took the man and put him in the garden of Eden to tend and keep it." Genesis 2:15 NKJV

Leisurely Experiences

Do not sacrifice your soul for an experience. This world is all about having experiences. Some experiences are just not for us. Some experiences are just not wise for us to entertain. (Matthew 7:16-20) “You will know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes from thornbushes or figs from thistles?  Even so, every good tree bears good fruit, but a bad tree bears bad fruit. A good tree cannot bear bad fruit, nor can a bad tree bear good fruit. Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire. Therefore by their fruits you will know them.” Matthew 7:16-20 NKJV

Rest & Soul

Keep your spiritual being holy even in rest. It is tempting when you are feeling overwhelmed and tired to simply let things go. Be careful to not lose sight of your spiritual well being. It is possible to recuperate and maintain holiness. (Romans 8:6) “For to be carnally minded is death, but to be spiritually minded is life and peace.” Romans 8:6 NKJV

Rest & Body

As we play to recuperate we must be mindful of our gifted earthen vessel. We are the temple of God. We are God created. We are given a use for this body by God. We must make sure to not compromise that at any time, especial in our leisure. (1 Corinthians 6:19-20) “Or do you not know that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God, and you are not your own?  For you were bought at a price; therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God’s.” 1 Corinthians 6:19-20 NKJV

Rest & Influence

No matter where you are or what you do you must always be a light. Sometimes we want to flip the light switch off when we go and play. We do not get that luxury even in relaxation. Make sure you are always the salt of the earth. (Matthew 5:13-16) “You are the salt of the earth; but if the salt loses its flavor, how shall it be seasoned? It is then good for nothing but to be thrown out and trampled underfoot by men. You are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hidden. Nor do they light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a lampstand, and it gives light to all who are in the house. Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven.”  Matthew 5:13-16 NKJV

Good People

The company you keep will rub of on you. Make sure that even in your free time you are surrounded by good influences. (1 Corinthians 15:33) “Do not be deceived: “Evil company corrupts good habits.”” 1 Corinthians 15:33 NKJV

Rest & Money

Rest often cost money. It does not always require money. Make sure the money you are using to fund your relaxation is being managed properly as a steward of that blessing from God. Do not steal from God to fund you leisure activities. If it is a temptation find free ways to recuperate. (Matt. 6:21) “For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.” Matthew 6:21 NKJV

Manage Your Time

Manage your time well. We have very little time at our disposal. Use your time both efficiently and sufficiently to recuperate. Make sure you are not caught miss managing the time God has given you. (Luke 2:49) "And He said to them, “Why did you seek Me? Did you not know that I must be about My Father’s business?”  Luke 2:49 NKJV

Instructing On Rest

Parents keep close watch over your children. It is easy to make sure that are doing the right thing when they are busy. The real danger for children is idle hands and minds. Make sure to keep watch over their free time. Teach them how to effectively use it.  (Proverbs 22:6) “Train up a child in the way he should go, And when he is old he will not depart from it.” Proverbs 22:6 NKJV

Sinning Is Not Relaxing

We can never relax in sin. Sin cannot be our avenue for recuperation. Although we maybe tired and that may be tempting it is still sin. Stay away from sin, even in times of leisure. (Gal. 5:19-21) “Now the works of the flesh are evident, which are: adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lewdness, idolatry, sorcery, hatred, contentions, jealousies, outbursts of wrath, selfish ambitions, dissensions, heresies, envy, murders, drunkenness, revelries, and the like; of which I tell you beforehand, just as I also told you in time past, that those who practice such things will not inherit the kingdom of God.”  Galatians 5:19-21 NKJV

A Little Time

We must be careful and not spend to much time in rest. That leisure time can become our undoing. Let it be what it is, a time of rest. Then come back to battle before your rest consumes you.  (Luke 8:14) “Now the ones  that  fell among thorns are those who, when they have heard, go out and are choked with cares,   riches, and pleasures of life, and bring no fruit to maturity. ”  Luke 8:14 NKJV

Rest Time

Take time to rest. We cannot be on the front lines every single moment. We must draw back and recuperate. If we do not we will succumb to exhaustion and the enemy will win. (Mark 6:31) “And He said to them,  “Come aside by yourselves to a deserted place and rest a while.”  For  there were many coming and going, and they did not even have time to eat. ” Mark 6:31 NKJV

Love Him

We either love God or we hate Him. We either love sin or we hate it. We know which side we stand on by which one we choose to serve. It is impossible to serve two masters. You will always love one and hate the other. Whose servant, are you? Does your work and fruit reflect that? (Luke 16:13) “No servant can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon.” Luke 16:13 KJV

Serve Right

Those who do right and as God says while Christ is away are the faithful and wise servants. It is easy to play while the Master is away. It takes a true servant to continue to serve when no one is there to hold them accountable. Always remember when Christ, our Master, comes back everyone will receive their due wages. Are you working while you wait? (Matt. 24:45-51)

Servant of Servants

Jesus was a servant of servants. He washed the feet of the apostles. He was trying to explain to them, as He is to us, that we are to be servants. We are not to elevate ourselves at any time. We have not right or authority to makes ourselves better than others. We have every right to make ourselves a servant to all.   (John 13:1-17)

Be Careful Judging

Judgment is wrong. Righteous judgement is not. That is, we can evaluate others lives based on the word and go to their aid when they are struggling. However, the final judgment call is by our Master.  God makes that ruling on judgement day. Be careful lest you be found making the final judgement on someone. (Romans 14:4) “Who are you to judge another’s servant? To his own master he stands or falls. Indeed, he will be made to stand, for God is able to make him stand.” Romans 14:4 NKJV

Have Mercy

We are never in place where we are merciless. We have been shown mercy by our Master. We need to make sure we express the same mercy to our fellow servants. We are not above another in any way, shape, or form. We simply have duties and roles to perform. (Matthew 18:21-35)

Bold Servants

Christ’s servants are bold. We stand tall in the Lord. Not to lord over others but to be a servant to all. We can boldly speak the Word as it has been given to us by our Master. Does your attitude and manner of life reflect this? (Acts 4:29)

Peaceable Servants

We are peaceable servants of the Lord. We do not quarrel. We are gentle to everyone. We can teach about Christ and His ways. We are patient. We should be wonderful people to be around.  (2 Timothy 2:24)

Christians Serve Christ

Christians are servants of Christ! We are in subjection to Him. We chose Him to rule our lives. Do not try to serve to masters at once. You will fail and come to love one more than the other. Serve God.  (Romans 1:1; 2 Corinthians 4:5)

Payday

Although we are slaves there is a payday coming. There is a reward for your service in everything we do. We are rewarded in serving sin with eternal death in condemnation. We are rewarded in serve God with eternal life in heaven.  What is your reward?  (Romans 6:23)

Choose Wisely

Freedom comes by choice. You can choose whom you obey. We are set free from our worldly master, Sin, when we obey the word. Therefore, we can no longer be in subjection to our old master.  (Romans 6:17; 1-2)

Your Master; Your Choice

We choose whom we serve. We serve the thing or things we subject ourselves to. We serve the thing we let rule our lives. We serve the thing we obey. Whatever you obey becomes your Master. Is there something in your life besides God that you are in subjection to?  (Romans 6:16)

Do The Dirty Job

We have an issue with understanding servants in our American culture. We do not really have anything that fits this bill any more. We pay our servants. T hose people that do the work we do not want to do are the modern servants.  We are to be like them. No matter how high we may feel we are, we are never above another. Always humble yourselves before each other and do the “dirty” job for another.  (Luke 18:9-14)

You Are A Servant

You are a servant. Yes, you are indeed a servant. We do not like that phrase. Who wants to be called a lowly servant? The highered hand is often looked upon with distain. As if they had some special powers to lower our status. We are servants. We are either slaves of God or slaves of sin. The choice is ours, but it must be made. (Rom. 6:20-22)

Choosing Slavery

The true sign of greatness is choosing to be a slave. Greatness does not come from standing tall and ordering others around. Greatness in Christ comes from bowing low, doing the work, and encouraging others to do the same. Would you be a slave for the sake of a soul? (Matthew 20:26-28)

We Are Servants

We are servants. Christ was the ultimate example of what it means to   be a servant. He was bound in service without wages, a bondservant.  We must be willing to do the same. (Philippians 2:7-8)

Spiritual Sexual Immorality

We can spiritually commit the sin of sexual immortality by turning to false doctrine and false gods. Think on this: If a person says that God accepts something that His word does not tell us He accepts is that the same God?  (2 Chronicles 21:11)

Keep Your Marriage Pure

Just like in the Old Testament  this unity has things we must avoid. We must avoid sexual immortality. This leads to idolatry. This is our warning to stay true to Christ. There is no other that we can be spiritually married to and be God’s child.  (1 Cor. 10:8; Num. 25:1-9)

The Life Insurance Policy

This marriage comes with an inheritance. As a bride of Christ there is a rich life insurance police to be reaped upon our death and judgement. We get to go be with our groom for eternity. We get to go into His Father’s house and forever be in a place of glory and bliss. What a policy. (Gen. 31:14; Col. 3:24)

Overwhelming Joy and Peace

There is an overwhelming amount of joy and peace in this marriage to Christ. There is no other union in this world that can provide us with this joy and peace. Sometimes we seek for it else where and end up in greater despair than when our pursuit began. (2 Cor. 7:1; Rom. 15:13)

Only Now

If we desire to be united, married, to Christ we must do it now. We cannot wait tell we are dead. It is only in this life time that this union can take place. This union does continue for eternity. Just like in our carnal courtship there is a window for marriage to take place, so it is with our marriage with Christ.  (Matt. 22:30)

A Bride Cares

A wife’s cares about how she may please her husband. That is to be our care for Christ. We must seek to please Him every day. We do that by keeping His commands. (1 Cor. 7:34)

Be Clingy

We are to cling to Christ. We must cling to Him as a wife clings to her husband.   Christ is our care taker, protector, and leader. There is nothing else for us to cling to and be right in God’s eyes.  (Eph. 5:31)

I'm A Bride

We are now the bride of Christ. We must act like one. This eternal covenant depends on us doing our part. Christ does His. We are to be submissive to Christ as a wife is submissive to her husband.  (Eph. 5:22-23)

Confessing

Fourth, we confess Christ has our Lord and Savior. We confess Him with the intent to make Him ours or committing ourselves to Him for eternity.   This is the same as our announcement of our intentions to our significant others. (Rm. 10:10)

Growing In Desire

Third,   we grow in desire for Christ and His truth we quite all others. We repent and turn from anything that is not of God. The same things happen when we desire to be married to one carnally. (Lk 13:3)

The Next Breakthrough

Second, we believe. When we hear the word, our desire becomes strong. We believe all that the truth says. This is compared to the “falling in love” process of our carnal courtships.   We become captivated and zealous for Him. (John 3:16; Acts 8:37)

Compare

As with a carnal marriage there is a courtship and process. We meet, fall in love, quite others, announce intentions, and get married. First, we meet Christ by hearing the word. The more we hear the closer we get and the stronger our desire for Him becomes.  (John 6:45; Rm. 10:17)

Are You Married To Christ?

Are you married to Christ? We need to think about this for more than a moment. Think of our carnal marriages. Think of how cause and effect takes place both the good and the bad in a marriage. These all can be carried over to our spiritual marriage to Christ.   (Rm. 7:4)
