Take It Seriously

We need to understand we come together on the first day of the week to worship God. We gather to partake of the Lords Supper. We are here for that reason. Not for ourselves. Although I have not heard of the atrocities that we see in Corinth concerning the Lord Supper take place today, others are being committed that are just as bad. Don’t forget that. You want to have a strong faith, pure religion and are growing in Christ take remembering the Lord seriously. Take God and His word seriously. Your soul depends on it.

“ Therefore when you come together in one place, it is not to eat the Lord’s Supper.  For in eating, each one takes his own supper ahead of others; and one is hungry and another is drunk.  What! Do you not have houses to eat and drink in? Or do you despise the church of God and shame those who have nothing? What shall I say to you? Shall I praise you in this? I do not praise you. For I received from the Lord that which I also delivered to you: that the Lord Jesus on the same night in which He was betrayed took bread;  and when He had given thanks, He broke it and said, “Take, eat; this is My body which is broken for you; do this in remembrance of Me.” In the same manner He also took the cup after supper, saying, “This cup is the new covenant in My blood. This do, as often as you drink it, in remembrance of Me.” For as often as you eat this bread and drink this cup, you proclaim the Lord’s death till He comes. Therefore whoever eats this bread or drinks this cup of the Lord in an unworthy manner will be guilty of the body and blood of the Lord. But let a man examine himself, and so let him eat of the bread and drink of the cup. For he who eats and drinks in an unworthy manner eats and drinks judgment to himself, not discerning the Lord’s body. For this reason many are weak and sick among you, and many sleep.” 1 Corinthians 11:20-30 NKJV

Family Light

Make sure your light is always shining no matter what your family is doing. “You are the salt of the earth; but if the salt loses its flavor, how shall it be seasoned? It is then good for nothing but to be thrown out and trampled underfoot by men.   “You are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hidden. Nor do they light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a lampstand, and it gives light to all who are in the house. Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven.” Matthew 5:13-16 NKJV

The Core

The center of all things is life.  Our lives can be run by our selfish ambitions or the life that Christ gives. That decision rest in your hands. If your life revolves around you and what you want, then you will be rewarded accordingly. However, if your life revolves around Christ there is a crown of life awaiting you. Who has to get out of the way for this to happen? You do. You have to crucify yourself. You must say “It is no longer I who lives, but Christ lives in me!”  We must enthrone Christ in our lives. Make your life Christ centered.  Start today. “But you have not so learned Christ, if indeed you have heard Him and have been taught by Him, as the truth is in Jesus:  that you put off, concerning your former conduct, the old man which grows corrupt according to the deceitful lusts, and be renewed in the spirit of your mind, and that you put on the new man which was created according to God, in true righteousness and holiness.” Eph. 4:20-24 "I ha...

Conviction

Conviction cannot be hidden. If you are convicted, it is evident. Your life will revolve around what you are strongly fixed in or on. We can get convicted of things that are bad for us. We can get convicted that certain sins are okay in moderation. We can get convicted that cultural teachings are perfect practices. That does not make it right. If we are convicted of the right things, then great things can be done. Let us be true to our conviction that Christ is the savior. Let us be convicted that we are children of God. Let us be convicted that we are soldiers for Christ. Let us be convicted that in Christ the world and sin cannot overcome us. Let your firm belief in God govern your actions. “Then Zacchaeus stood and said to the Lord, “Look, Lord, I give half of my goods to the poor; and if I have taken anything from anyone by false accusation, I restore fourfold.” And Jesus said to him, “Today salvation has come to this house, because he also is a son of Abraham; for the Son ...
